The Hamburg HafenCity Centre is in possibly Europe’s largest inner city residential and business developments, a massive rebuilding project due to house around 12,000 inhabitants and 40,000 workers on its completion in approximately 2020. Developed on the site of the old free port harbour quarters, HafenCity will be serviced by a new underground rail route and home to HafenCity University. The Hamburg-America Centre has already opened in the area and it is attracting global corporations to set up headquarters in Hamburg. The centre is located on the sixth floor of a modern building, with two large terraces offering panoramic views across the harbour and the city. HafenCity offers a variety of amenities, such as restaurants and hotels, as well as official buildings.
